Medical Records Assistants job description

Tasks

  • Compile and maintain medical records in the company’s database

  • Ensure that all medical records are accurate and up-to-date

  • Process medical record requests in a timely manner

  • Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks

  • Work closely with the medical billing department to ensure proper patient billing

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all medical records

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred

  • At least one year of experience working in a medical records management role

  • Knowledgeable in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) but similar EMR systems are acceptable.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with medical billing practices and procedures.
